Rob
Wegner has worked as a nightclub DJ since 1982. Born on Chicago's
South-Side, his family moved to Charlotte, NC where he learned
to play the drums in grade school and college. Several weeks
after turning eighteen [18], Rob was asked to drum over DJ mixes
for the Dixie Electric Company nightclub chain (Ohio, NY, NC,
SC); which is where retiring disco-era DJ's taught him how to
format and spin records. Rob moved to Arizona in 1984 and became
a resident DJ for such legendary Phoenix area clubs as Zazoo,
UM Club, Club 411, Sanctuary, Axis-Radius, Barcelona, and many
more.
He
has done radio commercials, appeared on television and radio,
and has worked for such organizations as the Phoenix
Thunderbirds
(such as FBR Open official post-game parties in 1999 and 2000
and private events [2005-08]), the Phoenix Suns, and the
NFL
Players Association
(2008). Rob also judged DJ competitions for Guitar Center and
DMC (regional), and has worked with most of the best known DJ's
in Arizona. In addition, he has performed for charitable organizations
such as the Phoenix Rotary 100, as well
the Arizona
Humane Society
and Boys
and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix (i.e., Taste).

Rob
has worked as a radio mix-show DJ on various stations across
the United States. For example, he spun on Chicago-Joliet's
WBVS (100.7 FM) on Saturday nights during the Summer 2001. He
also participated as a resident mix-show DJ on Club X (WXLV 90.3 FM - Schnecksville,
PA) for approximately two years (2003-05). Most notably, Rob became
one of the few non-New York based DJ's to make Sirius
Satellite Radio's Rave/Remix Channel's "first DJ
schedule." Streaming across North America, Rob spun on this
channel from May 2003 to May 2005.
I
n the Fall
of 2001, Rob began "Club DJ" class at Scottsdale Community
College. Because of its academic rarity, Rob's class has received
national and international attention. This has led to a quasi-consulting
role as a DJ educator. For example, Rob was interviewed by Andre
Petersen of the Wall Street Journal to provide background
information for an article entitled "The New Piano
Lesson: DJ Classes Sweep the Burbs" (February 27, 2003;
p. D1).
In
May 2004, Rob's Club DJ competencies were approved by the Maricopa
County Community College District (the largest in the United
States). In the Fall 2004, "Live-Performance
Disc Jockey Techniques"
(MUC 135) was offered for two college credits -- the first "Club
DJ" techniques class to offer undergraduate credit at a
formal government funded college or university.
